How to still have a relatively good Chinese New Year while piled under massive amount of work.

Had an interesting Chinese new year this year. Been coding all day on the 6th, which was the new years eve, till around 9pm when the bunch of us decided that we want to make dumplings as it's a tradition for Chinese new year. So we went shopping for ingredients and started going at it once we got home. By this time it was already 10pm-ish already. A thing about guys in a young startup, is that at 10pm, while being bed time for others, is more like afternoon tea time for us. We're really not good at sleeping. The dumpling making went on till around 1am, during which time we kept our faces stuffed with the cooked dumplings as well. We then sat around and watched Superbad.
While not being able to spend Chinese new year with our families back in Asia, it was a pretty good new years eve. I remember last year I got so drunk that a few pot plants at my grandma's place suffered stomach-acid-splash-damage.

Wow, I just realised it's been another year since I did anything to this blog, crazy... I'm really not good at this time management thing...

Oh well, at least we're getting somewhere with the little software startup that I co-founded. Been developing a free machinima tool hard-out for about a year or so now, and it's now finally reached close-alpha. If anyone's interested in taking a spin at a free 3D animation tool, you're welcome to take part in our alpha-testing now.

這大概是我最沒感覺的一次新年了... 最近腦裡想的都只是一些接近 0 和 1 的東西...
不過似乎 2007 年值得慶祝, 連地球創造新陸地都被人看到, 真神奇...
其實我也不知道要說什麼, 只是覺得好像該寫些什麼的感覺, 所以串聯從 Benjamin 那邊看到的部落客2007年新年許願大串連

可能最值得說的就是網友班大Benjamin 繼續進入 2006華文部落格大獎【幽默趣味】類決選, 可喜可賀(+趁我Project剛忙完到一個小段落, 無聊)之時我畫了個小圖送上, 或許到時候真的贏了我會畫個大的

其次, ㄝ...
喔, 今天去了基督城一年一度的 A&P Show, 吃了一堆很棒的食物(bratwurst, whitebait, OH YEAH~~), 摸到一些超可愛但叫不出名子的動物, 最後有被大雨淋成落湯雞(老實說滿爽的), 比較可惜的是沒看到原本想看的 Ninja Lumberjacks 比賽, 我們到的時候剛比完(這"忍者砍樹工比賽" 是什麼呢, 我找到我朋友去年拍的錄影的話我會放上來, 超嚇人的)

其他咧, 還有啥有趣的東西的話, 就是我目前拼命在寫的這個程式了, 因為是一個相當特別的控制介面, 不過目前沒有公開的打算, 明年初再說吧...

You know, I'd like to see someone violating this license and goes to court over this. I really want to see the sort of reaction people would have on their faces, but I guess due to the nature of this license that'll never happen... Oh well, can't have everything... Sigh...

I guess the point to it is that it would be the most liberal license around, it even started counting its clauses from 0 so that it's more programmer-friendly, but I don't know, I really can't see it taking off, for some reason....

do you see blog posts saying "oh I'm not dead, just been waaaay too busy to post anything on my blog lately, but now I'm back!!". Man there are lots of those posts... Just to show collectively how busy the whole human race can be... or lazy...

The lame-est excuse that I saw for not updating their blog was, "well, because of LOVE~~". I suppose I didn't update because of WORLD PEACE... (If you ask "What world peace??", yes yes, you're absolutely right...)

I suppose the real reason is I don't really know what to talk about... My friend said that I should post my drawings and 3D stuff that I made, but I don't know, I don't think I'm good enough or have enough time to do regular updates on my non-work-related stuff...

But then should I post about my work-related stuff? Eh... We're being a bit hush-hush at the moment so I don't really want to.

I also wonder if I was to post in chinese I can be more witty and interesting? But then again I think more of my friends read English than otherwise here (my assumption), so I guess at the end it really depends on whether I care enough about my friends for them to understand what exactly I'm saying, or not. Well I guess the best thing for me to do now is to hire a million monkeys...

Hmmm... Haven't seen him for so long, and now he seem to want to increase my rating if I go ego-surfing, which I don't mind at all (not that if my blog have anything to offer anyway, haha). Welcome back online my friend.

Been reading his blog a little, and yet between all those long sentences reflecting how much of a geeky pin-up boy he really is, I was little bit disappointed to see that he doesn't seem to be as excited to his upcoming change of social status as his other friends back in NZ are.

...and I found myself turning back into some sort of a noob gamer, again...

Sounds of booming explosions fill my room, loud enough to wakeup whoever sleeping in the next room... And yeah, my mum does get cranky like that at 2am in the morning...

I'm not sure why I started playing games again; since my Otago days the sort of entertainment that I do on the computer is the simple Freecell, though it was more of an intense addiction than a simple entertainment I must confess; without playing at least 2 games per 3 hours, the random twitching begins... And no, this doesn't help the geeky image of some untidy long-haired asian dude with severe myopia in baggy cargo pants sitting alone in a lab full of 22" CRT monitors... Gee I miss the Graphics Lab at Otago.

Bunch of european dude at the lab went surfing again today (bastards), during the time where I had to mown the lawn and cut some trees, gee, I know what I'd rather do...

I guess I'm becoming a bit slack, but gee, got to find other things to do too...

Was quite fed up with the layout of my blog a while ago, and finally squeezed some time out of my time to make some changes. So now, new layout, new title picture, new boarders, finally at least i feel are up to an acceptable standard, for the time that i have in my normal to do random stuff...

Now, only if i can get my normal life on track, things would be sweet...

Oh, the drawing is done with my new Genius Tablet that i got a few weeks ago... Yeah i know Genius Tablets are a bit budget, i wish i could afford a Wacom Intuous3 as well, but i wasn't born holding Microsoft shares in my hand (though some Google shares right about now would be nice), so this would have to do until the flood the cash hits my front door in the near future... Yeah, who isn't a dreamer?
